Our Mission

The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association. This marks the 14th year that we have united the community to increase awareness and generate financial support for this devastating disease.

Who is this event for?

This event, which began in 2013 with 121 participants, successfully raised $2,400. Over the last 11 years, we have collectively raised an impressive total of $88,000 to support research aimed at finding a cure. We invite you to join us this year to get active and contribute to the fight against this disease.

Team Race

The race will kick off at Heritage Trail Pond, located on Highway 52. Participants can look forward to an out-and-back course that crosses the bridge and leads towards town for the 5k, while the 5-mile out-and-back course heads west towards Durango, ultimately finishing on the same route as the 5k for the Half Marathon.

The event features three legs, covering distances of 6.4 miles, 3.6 miles, and 3.1 miles. Registration for the Team Race is set at $75 per team, and awards will be presented to the top three teams. Please note that team registration will not be accepted after August 9th.

Half Marathon Relay

The first runner departs from the Heritage Pond (Start/Finish) heading west on a crushed limestone path. They run past the initial exchange point at Durango to the turnaround cone, which is 5 miles out. Upon returning to the Durango exchange, they switch with the second runner after completing a total of 6.4 miles.

The second runner takes off after the first runner returns from the turnaround cone, running back to the Heritage Pond, covering a distance of 3.6 miles.

At the Heritage Pond (Start/Finish), the third runner begins their leg and runs the out-and-back 5K portion on blacktop, totaling 3.1 miles.

Relay teams are responsible for their own transportation to Durango. The second runner can drive to Durango while the first runner returns to the pond during the second runner's race.

Half Marathon

Starting and finishing at the Heritage Pond, runners will head west along a crushed limestone trail for 5 miles before turning around to return to the pond. The course concludes with a 5k out and back on blacktop. Over the total distance of 13.1 miles, the elevation gain is a modest 110 ft, making it a flat course.

Awards

Registration

Medals will be awarded to the top female and male finishers in each age division for every race. Trophies will be presented to the top female and male overall finishers in the 5k, as well as to the top three female and male overall finishers in the Half Marathon. Any division or overall record broken in the 5k will earn the athlete a free $10 Gift Card to Casey's General Store. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
